On Tuesday, in a Wilmington, Delaware courtroom, Hunter Biden, the youngest son of President Joe Biden, was found guilty on gun possession charges. This verdict arrived approximately a week after former President Donald Trump was found guilty in a Manhattan courtroom of financial misconduct related to payments to an adult film actress.
President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, is convicted of all 3 felonies in federal gun trial
Biden exited the courtroom silently and proceeded home, whereas a week prior, former President Trump spent close to ten minutes discussing the sham trial he faced and accusing the Biden Justice Department of targeting him. However, Trump’s argument overlooks the fact that it was New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg who pursued justice in a state court, and it was Hunter Biden who was prosecuted by a legal team assembled by Merrick Garland, whom Biden’s father appointed as Attorney General, with the judge having been appointed by Trump.
Trump is the first former president to stand trial, and Biden is the first child of a sitting president to do so as well. Both received fair trials before juries of their peers: Trump in a Manhattan courtroom, a mere four miles from his residence of over 30 years, and Biden in Wilmington, where his father served as a U.S. Senator for many years.
Both individuals were found guilty due to compelling evidence presented by the prosecution teams, demonstrating that the U.S. justice system does not show favoritism, regardless of whether one is the president’s son or a former president. President Biden has stated he will not pardon his son, affirming his respect for the jury system, while former President Trump continues to complain, claiming the system is rigged against him.
Both men are set to face more trials in the future: Biden for failure to pay taxes, and Trump for the Mar-a-Lago Classified Documents Case, the Federal Election Interference Case, as well as criminal charges in Georgia, Florida, and Washington, D.C. It remains to be seen if our court system will continue to demonstrate that whether one is a billionaire or the president’s son, they must still be held accountable for their actions.
The positive aspect is that the U.S. Justice System is operational and, despite former President Trump’s complaints, it remains a fair and equitable system. In contrast, Hunter Biden has demonstrated respect for the system, and his father has shown that if one is convicted of a crime, they have the right to appeal. If the appeal is unsuccessful, one must accept the verdict and, as a father with the power to pardon, show that sometimes tough love is necessary.
