Financial advice is dominated by male advisers — 84 percent to 16 percent — while the industry continues to grapple with surprisingly low headcounts for women advisers, according to Cerruli Associates, a data marketing and research firm.

That share of women increased by 2 percentage points in 2018 compared with 2017 but remains embarrassingly low. Women make up 26 percent of accountants, according to AICPA.org survey in 2015, and 38 percent of licensed attorneys, per U.S. Census Bureau in 2018.
